The community I have the favorable chance to work in through my internship has positively affected my education radically. I believe I have an advantage over my peers because I have not only glanced into the real world but also actively worked and thrived in it. I have gained and developed many skills such as communication, time management and even grown stronger in my faith. My internship is a partner in my education by preparing me in unique opportunities that I otherwise would not have experienced until later in life.

So far I have met goals such as, gaining a better understanding of sex trafficking and becoming informed enough to educate others around me. A goal that has developed over the course of the internship is what educating my community actually looks like. My goal has grown into an assembly hosted by me in my high school, that is thousands of students who will hear these stories and it could change their entire perspective and even re-route their personal course.

I have always had some hesitation to working full-time for a non-profit as an adult but now I have been exposed to many people doing it and it has inspired me. This new positive perspective has even guided me into look at a Christian University to explore majors such as global missions or social service. I know that if I wish to pursue a life devoted to serving then I must be be built on a firm foundation.
